  • Academic Reading Strategies

    Succeeding in graduate school requires reading and retaining massive amounts of written material, particularly in the humanities and social sciences. Join us to learn concrete strategies for reading academic work more efficiently and effectively.

  • How to Write a Literature Review

    Tuesday, January 11, 12:00pm-12:50pm

    Working on a literature review for a course assignment, journal article, thesis, or dissertation? Join us to learn why literature reviews are important in academic writing projects and how to research, organize, and draft an effective review.

  • English Grammar Refresher for Graduate Students

    Wednesday, January 19, 10:00pm-10:50am 

    Learn the basic grammatical concepts of the English language, including sentence structure, pronoun usage, prepositions, article usage, and tips for expanding a discipline-specific vocabulary. This workshop is an ideal opportunity to ask questions and gain skills.

  • Writing a Successful Abstract

    Need to write an abstract but not sure what to include or how to format what you've written? This workshop provides a detailed overview of the necessary components for a successful abstract. 

  • CHASS Article Structure

    Tuesday, February 1, 3:00pm-3:50pm 

    Interested in getting your journal article published? While some journals have their own unique format, there are some key components all journal articles will contain. Come learn more about these key components to begin your writing process!

  • Writing Concisely

    Thursday, February 17, 2:00pm-2:50pm 

    Concise writing helps you communicate your ideas clearly and effectively. This workshop discusses strategies for eliminating excessive wordiness, improving clarity, and revising passive voice to make your writing stand out.
